ISAAC Improves its Satellite Communication
In the latest release of its solution, ISAAC made several improvements regarding satellite communication, which aim to minimize the vehicle’s data consumption when outside the cellular coverage zone. Changes include the possibility to obtain the vehicle’s geographical location on request, and bidirectional messaging between the tablet and the ISAAC InRealTime application. New, more economical data plans are also available.

Good News for the Programme d’aide Écocamionnage
Announced by the Quebec Minister of Finance, Mr. Carlos Leitão, the renewal of the Programme d’aide Écocamionnage (Ecodriving subsidy program) is good news for transportation companies based in Quebec. This program introduced by the Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports, aims to reduce the environmental footprint of road freight transport, by financing the acquisition of eligible technologies, such as ISAAC’s solution. This program will end in December 2020, or until the resource envelope is exhausted.
The Integration to TMWSuite is Completed
Following a rigorous process, ISAAC has obtained certification from TMW Systems for having completed the integration of its solution with TMWSuite. This integration is an addition to the numerous integrations already completed with the various systems available on the market. The Canadian ELD Mandate is Coming
Last summer, ISAAC took part in the consultation round regarding the proposal of Canadian e-log regulations. During this round, ISAAC submitted recommendations to the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA) regarding the technical requirements of such devices in Canada. On April 3, ISAAC received the CCMTA’s final proposal. Based on the information presented in this document, technical requirements are identical to those of the U.S. ELD Mandate, with a few exceptions. ISAAC’s clients can therefore use their current e-log for managing hours of service in both Canada and the U.S.

The Circle Check is Now Available
Earlier this year, the SAAQ updated its vehicle inspection program for road vehicles in Quebec. The Circle Check, soon to replace the Pre-trip Inspection, will be effective November 20, 2016. To ensure all of our clients’ vehicles comply with this new regulation, the Circle Check will be activated automatically before this date. C.A.T. Receives the SmartWay Excellence Award
ISAAC wishes to highlight the recent success of C.A.T. at the American Trucking Association Conference that took place on October 3, 2016. The company, which is located at Coteau-du-Lac in Quebec, was awarded the SmartWay Excellence Award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This prize rewards carriers having demonstrated superior performance regarding environmental protection and energy efficiency. Congratulations!
ISAAC Instruments Sells its Mining Division
ISAAC has announced the sale of its mining division to Newtrax. The buyer, a dynamic Montreal-based organization focused on the development of technological solutions for the mining industry, will take control of operations for an undisclosed amount. ISAAC will however continue to manufacture, deploy and offer technical support for a transitional period of eighteen months to ensure flawless service to clients.
Canadian Regulations on Electronic Logging Devices
Transport Canada is proposing to amend the Federal Commercial Vehicle Drivers Hours of Service Regulations to require that motor carriers and commercial vehicle drivers use Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) for logging Hours of Service (HOS).

The Circle Check is Already Available in ISAAC InControl
New regulations on safety standards for road vehicles have been adopted and will come into effect on November 20, 2016. One effect of the new regulations is to replace the pre-trip inspection by the circle check. While pre-trip inspections had to take place before the vehicle’s departure, circle checks must be performed on a daily basis, with a few exceptions.

ISAAC Instruments was the subject of an article published in the La Presse+ newspaper on July 11. A Touch of Humour for the ACQ
Once again, ISAAC was a partner of the 65th edition of the ACQ’s annual conference, which was held at the Hilton Québec. Partners were invited to present their organization through a video based on this year’s theme “Building on performance”. True to the event’s playful atmosphere, ISAAC’s video surely left its mark on several viewers’ imaginations. But not to worry, no tablets were damaged while filming!
Martin Roy Transport and ISAAC on Air with Truck Stop Quebec
On March 17, ISAAC was the subject of a radio show aired on Truck Stop Quebec. During the interview, Jacques DeLarochellière, President of ISAAC Instruments, described the organization’s evolution since its beginnings in the motorsports industry. He went on to explain how telemetry which was once accessible only to motorsports drivers, is now available to heavy truck drivers for improving their performance. Johanne Valence, of Martin Roy Transport, was also invited to talk about her experience in using ISAAC systems.
ISAAC Was There: Truck World 2016
ISAAC’s team was present last month to participate at the Truck World Expo, held at the International Centre of Mississauga. The event, which attracted more than 20 000 visitors, allowed ISAAC to strengthen its presence on the Ontario market and to showcase its solutions to carriers from across the country. Visitors were invited to test their ability at a game of skill by throwing ISAAC InControl tablets to hit a target, in order to participate in a draw to win a pair of tickets for a regular season NHL Hockey game. The winner is Jagroop Bal, of AirTime Express. Congratulations!

ISAAC’s innovative character was once again recognized during the selection of prioritized projects in the second edition of Stratégie PerforME. Promoted by Quebec’s Ministère de l’Économie, de la Science et de l’Innovation, the strategy supports the growth of high-performing organizations, by facilitating their project financing. The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins, the CSN’s Fondaction, the Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec and Investissement Québec, will take part in the strategy by allocating a maximum of 50 million dollars for the project financing of selected companies.

PIT group is categorical: “Training is not enough!”
In his presentation to the Regroupement des Professionnels en Sécurité Routière du Québec (RPSRQ), Benoit Vincent, engineer from PIT Group at FPInnovation, unveiled the results of their study on eco-driving, conducted with the financial support of Camo-route. In the report, PIT Group concluded that training drivers in eco-driving is not sufficient to maximize and maintain long-term fuel economy – the detailed and frequent monitoring of driver performance is the key to success.
