ISAAC renews certification of its ELD in Canada

Four years after obtaining Transport Canada’s mandatory certification for its electronic recording devices (ELDs), ISAAC Instruments today confirms the recertification of its solution.

This renewal, granted by FP Innovations on behalf of federal authorities, is part of a mandatory recertification process for all ELD suppliers every four years. As with the initial certification, this renewal involves a series of in-depth evaluations and tests, demonstrating ISAAC’s ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance and technological quality.

ISAAC sets itself apart with its ability to offer reliable, compliant technology that 30% of Canadian carriers and a growing number of major US carriers rely on for their operations.

“This trust is based on our constant vigilance at ISAAC,” believes Jacques DeLarochelliere, CEO, Chairman of the Board, and co-founder of ISAAC. “When it comes to certification, our clients don’t have to worry about following up, because our team provides rigorous and proactive monitoring to ensure that every device remains compliant and high performing.”

It should be noted that Canadian regulations require third-party certification for all ELDs used in the country, including those used by American fleets crossing the border. This requirement differs from the American model, where manufacturers can self-certify their devices and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) simply maintains a list of registered devices. In Canada, independent validation aims to protect carriers by ensuring that ELDs meet technical standards.

With cutting-edge automation features that facilitate the daily lives of users and set ISAAC’s solution apart in the market, its certification process is more complex and demanding.

“This complexity is by no means an obstacle for us,” explains Jacques DeLarochelliere. “We enthusiastically and rigorously comply with certification requirements and are proud to ensure that every client benefits from technology that is both innovative and compliant with applicable laws.”

For transportation companies operating in Canada and the United States, choosing ISAAC means ensuring ongoing compliance and personalized support. The team offers resources and training to facilitate understanding and application of regulations. ISAAC Instruments thus reaffirms its mission to simplify trucking by supporting carriers in their regulatory compliance with rigor and commitment.
